Pakistan gets 2027 chairmanship of IMF, World Bank boards after 74 years, calls appointment ‘historic milestone’

Pakistan will chair the boards of governors of the IMF and World Bank Group in 2027, returning to the role after more than 70 years. The appointment was announced at the 2026 annual meetings in Bangkok.
